Warning present and future JC Penney customers. |
This is what JC Penney did to me (it could happen to you too). On or about April of 2000 I was ready to buy a house. Upon applying for credit for my mortgage I found out that JC Penney had placed a judgement against myself and my wife for the amount of $2607.93, and accused me of non payment when in fact, my wife and I have never used a credit card from JC Penney. This judgement prevented me from getting my mortgage loan, with not one, but two different mortgage companies as well as putting a serious blemish in my credit record. After numerous telephone calls to JC Penney's customer service department, numerous telephone calls to the collection attorneys handling the account, I finally received a letter dated May 24, 2000 from the collection attorneys stating that this bad report was sent in to the credit bureau in error, and that a "warrant to satisfy judegement" was sent to the Hudson County Superior Court - Special Civil Part in order to have this removed from my records. This collection agency also promised that they would "take all neccessary action to clear up this matter". In addition to the above mentioned letter, I also received a letter from JC Penney's customer service department dated May 30, 2000. This letter stated that "the above account has been deleted from your bureau file". Thereafter I received another letter dated July 17, 2000 from the Superior Court of New Jersey - Special Civil Part, which stated that "the judement has been satisfied and closed", this letter even has an official court seal. Well ladies and gentlemen this has not been removed from my wife's credit report as of today, I have yet to get a satisfactory solution to this issue. I have once again made numerous telephone calls to JC Penney's customer service department in charge of credit and I even had representative from their credit depatrment call me and said thet we will know something soon and as of(1/24/01 ) quess what? nothing yet. As a consumer and someone who works in the customer service industry, I feel that it is my duty and responsibility to forewarn other consumers and JC Penney customers about this type of matter because it could be very costly and damaging, along with so much aggravation, and it will take all of your patience and time to hopefully resolve a mistake made by JC Penney and: IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU Thank you for visiting my site. I hope it will be of some help. Robert Ramos Please sign my guest book. |
